A studio for film, imagery, and visual storytelling. Founded in 2026 by two people who arrived at the same craft from different directions. maho comes from our first names, Magnus and Horst. That it also means “magic” in Japanese — mahō, 魔法 — we only found out later. Felt about right.

Horst Czenskowski

Horst Czenskowski directs commercials, brand films and social content for some of the industry's biggest names, among them RTL, Warner Bros. Discovery, ProSiebenSat.1 and Disney. His breakthrough came early: an MTV spot taking a stand against racism won awards at several international festivals.

Over the years he has directed a long line of well-known faces from television, film, sport and music — among them Heidi Klum, Michael "Bully" Herbig, Thomas Gottschalk and Take That. His viral campaign for Stefan Raab's comeback set a record that still stands — 67 million views in 72 hours, 1.1 million likes and 2.4 million new followers, the most successful viral campaign in German television history.

At mahō, Horst leads direction and gives every project its emotional foundation. He sees AI as a way to tell stories bolder, cheekier and with more heart.

Magnus Schlüter

Magnus is a 3D motion designer and art director. For many years he has shaped the visual identities of major television networks — from the Disney Channel to flagship formats of German public broadcasters such as ZDFheute and Sportschau.

Today he stages the products of AAA clients such as Puma, Titleist, Bowers & Wilkins and BMW, working from Munich for clients across the globe. Magnus brings concept and craft together in one coherent process, and at mahō he is responsible for visual identity, art direction, and everything that happens between an idea and the final frame.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe that good films come from considered ideas, not from templates. That an image is more than an asset. And that the work of giving a story soul is always worth the effort — especially in commissioned work.
